If you need to discontinue water service at your property, please follow the procedures outlined below to ensure a smooth disconnection process and accurate final billing.

Required Notice Period

You must provide written notice at least 5 business days before your requested disconnection date. This allows our team to schedule the service disconnection and prepare your final billing statement.

Important: You remain responsible for all water service charges until we receive your written notice of discontinuation, regardless of when you vacate the property.

How to Request Service Disconnection

To request service disconnection, you must submit written notice using one of the following methods:

Information You’ll Need to Provide

When requesting service disconnection, please have the following information ready:

  • Account Number - Found on your billing statement
  • Service Address - The property where service is being disconnected
  • Requested Disconnection Date - At least 5 business days in advance
  • Forwarding Address - Where we should send your final bill
  • Phone Number - For contact regarding your account
  • Reason for Disconnection - Moving, selling property, etc.

Final Billing and Meter Reading

Final Meter Reading

If you are on a metered account, our operations team will conduct a final meter reading on or near your requested disconnection date. This reading will be used to calculate your final bill.

Final Bill

Your final bill will include:

  • Water usage charges through the disconnection date (prorated based on days of service)
  • Any outstanding balance on your account
  • Applicable fees or adjustments
  • Less any deposits, refunds, or credits due to you

The final bill will be mailed to your forwarding address within 1 week of the date stated in your disconnection notice.

Final Payment

Payment for your final bill is due 25 days after the date rendered on the bill. Please ensure your forwarding address is correct to avoid delayed receipt of your final statement.

Property Owners and Landlords

If you are a property owner or landlord and a tenant is vacating:

  • Please provide advance notice of tenant move-out
  • Specify if service should be transferred to the property owner
  • Or if service should be completely disconnected until a new tenant moves in

Service Deposits

If you paid a service deposit when establishing your account, it will be refunded within 30 days after you request service discontinuation. Any outstanding charges will be deducted from the deposit before refund.

Important Reminders

  • Winter Disconnections: If disconnecting service during winter months (October - April), please take appropriate measures to winterize your plumbing to prevent frozen pipes.
  • Property Sales: If you are selling your property, coordinate the disconnection date with the closing date to ensure continuous service for the new owner.
  • Written Notice Required: You remain responsible for all water service charges until the utility receives written notice, regardless of when you vacate the property.

For customers who use their property seasonally and want to maintain service:

  • You may keep your account active and continue monthly service charges
  • Contact us about options for seasonal properties
  • Discuss winterization requirements with our operations team
