Who supplies and installs the meter?
The utility supplies the meter. You must install all meters at your own expense according to utility specifications.
Utility supplies the meter
The utility shall supply any meter required. The utility will supply only one meter for each service connection unless it has authorized a branch service extension. The utility will determine the size of the meter.
If you request a compound meter, fire flow meter, or a meter larger than 2 inches, the request must be made at least 180 days before the scheduled installation date.
The utility at its own expense may install a remote reading device on the property. The meter will remain the sole property of the utility.
You install the meter
You must install all meters at your own expense according to the utility’s specifications.
Meter bypass
You must install a meter bypass with a 3 inch or larger meter. You may install a meter bypass with a smaller meter only if the utility determines the bypass is required to protect public health and safety. A meter bypass must be sealed and tagged in the closed position at the time the meter is installed, and the installation must be inspected by the utility.
