Who pays for meter testing?

If the meter is found to be out of tolerance, the utility pays all costs and refunds your deposit. If the meter is within tolerance, you pay the testing costs.
The cost of meter testing depends on the test results.
If the meter is out of tolerance (inaccurate)
- The utility pays all costs
- Your deposit is refunded within 10 days
- The utility will repair or replace the meter
- Your billing will be adjusted for the period the meter was inaccurate
If the meter is within tolerance (accurate)
- You pay the costs of removing, testing, and reinstalling the meter, including labor and equipment
- Within 10 days, you will receive a statement detailing expenses and either an invoice or deposit refund
Meter test deposits
- 3/4" to 2" meters: $110 deposit
- Meters larger than 2": $180 deposit
