How much is the service deposit?
The service deposit equals two months of your estimated service charges, calculated using either the flat rate or estimated metered usage.
Every customer receiving water service must pay a service deposit for every service connection, structure, commercial unit, or dwelling unit served. The deposit amount is designed to cover approximately two months of service.
Deposit calculation: The deposit is the higher of:
- Two months of flat rate service charges, OR
- Two months of estimated metered charges (meter charge plus estimated volume charge)
Example deposit amounts:
Flat rate residential (single-family home):
- $76.94 × 2 = $153.88 deposit
Flat rate commercial:
- $87.04 × 2 = $174.08 deposit
Metered service (3/4" meter, estimated 5,000 gal/month):
- Monthly estimate: $84.23 + (5 × $5.36) = $111.03
- Deposit: $111.03 × 2 = $222.06
Multi-unit example (duplex, flat rate):
- Monthly: $76.94 × 2 units = $153.88
- Deposit: $153.88 × 2 = $307.76
