How do I get my water service restored after disconnection?
Show the utility you've fixed the problem, pay all outstanding charges including turn-on fees. Your service will be restored within 3 working days.
For discontinuation (water turned off at the keybox):
To get your water service restored within 3 working days:
- Demonstrate to the utility that you’ve corrected the cause of the discontinuation
- Pay the turn-off and turn-on charges: $122 (business hours) or $172 (non-business hours) per Section W-027.1
Only the utility can restore your water service after it’s been discontinued.
Extenuating circumstances: If strict enforcement would cause a hazard to public health or safety, the utility manager may agree to waive or defer correction of the cause and restore service on special terms for a limited time.
For disconnection (physically disconnected at the main):
To get your water service restored, you must:
- Submit an application for a connection permit (Section W-020)
- Submit a new application for water service (Section W-006)
- Demonstrate to the utility that you’ve corrected the cause of the disconnection
- Pay in full all outstanding charges including:
- Water usage charges
- Turn-on/turn-off fees
- Inspection fees
- Service deposits
- Unauthorized turn-on/turn-off fees (if applicable)
- Actual costs for disconnection
Within 30 days, you’ll also need to pay the full costs for reconnection work and installing any facilities that were removed.
Note: Physical reconnection at the main requires permits, inspections, and construction work, which takes longer than the 3 working days mentioned for simple discontinuation.
