Can I get temporary seasonal water service?

Yes. The utility will turn service on in spring and off in fall on dates you specify, subject to turn-on/turn-off fees of $122 each time (business hours).


Temporary seasonal water service is available for properties that only need water during certain times of the year.

What is temporary seasonal service:

  • Water service turned on for part of the year (typically spring/summer)
  • Service discontinued for part of the year (typically fall/winter)
  • Same property, recurring seasonal pattern
  • Customer designates on/off dates

Common uses:

  • Seasonal residences
  • Camper parks
  • Public parks
  • Recreation facilities
  • Undeveloped lots
  • Irrigation systems

How it works:

Application:

  • Submit written request for temporary seasonal service
  • Specify dates for turn-on and turn-off
  • Can be same dates each year
  • Must request in advance of each season

Rates: Temporary seasonal service rates are calculated according to the rate classification you would normally fall under:

  • Residential properties: Residential flat rate ($76.94/month when active)
  • Commercial properties: Commercial flat rate ($87.04/month when active) or metered rates

Turn-on/turn-off fees: Each time service is activated or deactivated:

  • $122 during business hours (per visit)
  • $172 during non-business hours (per visit)
  • Both spring turn-on AND fall turn-off incur fees

Example annual cost (residential):

  • Spring turn-on: $122
  • Service May-September (5 months): 5 × $76.94 = $384.70
  • Fall turn-off: $122
  • Total annual: $628.70

Scheduling:

  • Submit written request for service discontinuation for winter
  • Cannot be discontinued until written request received
  • Schedule turn-on/turn-off at least 24 hours in advance
  • Must be present or have representative present

Billing during inactive periods:

  • No monthly service charges when service is off
  • Account status: “temporarily inactive”
  • No deposit refund during inactive period
  • Account reactivated each season

Important notes:

  • You remain responsible for the service extension and keybox year-round
  • Protect from damage during off-season
  • Notify utility of any changes to seasonal dates
  • Late requests may not be accommodated immediately
