Yes. If your delinquent account is referred to a collection agency or attorney, you'll be responsible for paying the collection costs incurred by that referral.
If your delinquent account is referred to a collection agency or an attorney for collection, you will be responsible for paying the collection costs incurred by that referral, in addition to the original amount owed.
How to avoid collection costs:
- Pay your bills on time
- Contact the utility immediately if you’re having trouble paying
- Arrange a payment plan before your account becomes severely delinquent
- Respond to any delinquent or disconnection notices promptly
If your account has already been referred to collections, contact the collection agency or attorney immediately to discuss payment options.
